Shoshana Zuboff’s The Age of Surveillance Capitalism: The Fight for a Human Future at the New Frontier of Power is a stunningly complete guide to the history and the tradeoff we have all made between our privacy and several massive data platforms. The first book (and the last one I finished) is arguably the most complete work in understanding the new economy powered by data and access to information. The timing of each of these books and their futurist warning, deep research, and outstanding storytelling caused a flurry of Venn-diagramming on my part for a couple of days, resulting in that image above.Īs I’ve said, I love Venn diagrams, they are the ultimate polymath tool.
